London

London is the capital city of the United Kingdom and it is situated on the South East of England. London which is the biggest city in the United Kingdom and the Western Europe has a population of around 8.3 million people and is also referred to as the world’s largest financial center. The London city which has strengths in the arts, commerce, education, entertainment, fashion, finance, healthcare, media, professional services, research and development is also known to be the world’s most-visited city as measured by international arrivals.

London has a temperate Oceanic climate.
Winters are normally chilly to cold with frost usually occur in the suburbs on an average twice a week from November to March. Snow usually occurs about four or five times a year mostly from December to February.

The summers however are normally warm and sometimes hot, the heat being boosted by the urban heat island which has made the center of London at times 5 °C (9 °F) warmer than the suburbs and outskirts.

The world-famous British Museum exhibits the works of man from prehistoric to modern times. There is the London’s National Gallery which is a vast space filled with Western European paintings from the 13th to the 19th centuries. The gallery contains works by masters such as Van Gogh, da Vinci, Botticelli, Constable, Renoir, Titian and Stubbs. There is also the Natural History Museum which boasts a collection of the biggest, tallest and rarest animals in the world. Tower of London is one of the world’s most famous buildings. There is the Madame Tussauds, where one will come face-to-face with some of the world’s most famous faces from Shakespeare to Lady Gaga and also meet influential figures from showbiz, sport, politics and even royalty.
